Freelance Travel Writing - What Is It All About?

Becoming a successful travel writer involves some imagination, some legwork, and a powerful eye for detail to transform the rich experience of a place into a clear, exciting article.  If you can do all of that, and if you're willing to put time into marketing your work, you can join the ranks of successful freelance travel writers.

The key to successful travel writing is putting yourself into the mind of the prospective traveler.  When a traveler arrives at a new destination, what is he or she in the mood for?  A bite to eat?  A place to sleep?  A sense of local color and history?  A pleasant neighborhood to tour?

And how important is familiarity? Do travelers want to feel like they're "at home" even when abroad, with all the necessities and comforts they rely on readily available (and with very little language barrier)? Or do travelers want to feel excited and challenged out of everyday things, to accept the difficulties of living, as much as possible, like a native?

As for the nuts and bolts of writing travel articles, it's obviously best if you've actually been to the place you're writing about.  There are a thousand little details about a place—smell, colors, sounds, the general flow of traffic and attitude of the people—that only personal experience can provide.

If you've been to a place, your original observations help to make your article "stand out" from the rest. Thousands of people have probably described Paris as a "city of romance." Without direct experience, how will you know—and write—that Paris is also a city which boasts a really good, Gypsy-haunted crepe restaurant overlooking a sunset quay on the Seine?

These kinds of specific details not only make editors look more favorably at your articles, but they also make your articles more popular with travelers.

A Freelance Writing Job – Finally within Your Reach

To become a freelance writer is great because it gives you a lot of freedom. One of the freedoms that you can enjoy about freelance writing is that you can choose the  company that you want to write with. If you do not like the company, then you can  just go for another one.

I always choose companies that give me the maximum benefits in my career. Unfortunately, it was difficult to find freelance writing opportunities that give me what I want. I thought that I could never found one. However, just a few weeks ago I came across the website called freelancewritingnet.com.

I never encountered this type of website before and I said to myself again, perhaps this is worth a try. Can freelancewritingnet.com respond to what I need and want as a freelance writer?

The site is clean, with no fancies like multimedia, videos etc, just plain facts. The language is plan and clear and therefore meant for everyone to read and understand. I was assured by others that the site is meant for ordinary people with writing talent, but eager to make money at the same time.

With this in mind, I finally went to the Product Page and Wow!! Only two products, but let me tell you what….

That is all you need to launch your Freelance Writing Career.

If you are still in doubt, just go to;

Freelance Writers - Get Publicity With Blog Writing

Are you a freelance writer or interested in freelance writing? Then you should consider starting a blog to publish your writing.

While it is difficult for many freelance writers to think about publishing their writing for free, consider the different methods below, that you can utilize to profit from with a blog.

A - Focus primarily on self publishing all your work to a blog (or blogs if you write in more than one area). The numerous pages of fresh, original content will be slurped up by the search engines and drive quality, targeted traffic to your blog.

B - Profit from the above traffic by selling advertising - Use third-party advertising services such as pay-per-click or pay-per-lead programs, or promote affiliate programs and products. If you want to focus simply on your writing and your audience then pay-per-click or affiliate programs is probably the easiest method to choose.

C - Publish your writing in your own free ezine, newsletter, ebook, or some other informational product - Use the blog to promote these products. You can still derive some profit from advertising or affiliate programs if you choose as well, but the additional informational products give you even more venues to profit.

D - Make a very nice living from giving your writing away - But if you do not want to do that then you can choose to only give away a small portion and only share the balance of your work with paying customers. Either way you will have complete power and control over your own published work and you will reap all the financial rewards from your own hard work and talent.

All freelance writers should seriously consider self publishing with a blog, by using one of the above profit models.
